New Partnership with Patagonia Films Results in New Fall Season of Link TV and KCET's Acclaimed Environmental Documentary Series EARTH FOCUS PRESENTS

Eleven films from Patagonia Films make broadcast world premieres and comprise new season exploring environmental conservancy at local and global levels premiering September 1.

Los Angeles, Calif. – Aug. 3, 2021 – Link TV, the national independent non-commercial satellite television network, and KCET, Southern California's home for award-winning original public media programming, today announced a new season of the acclaimed documentary series EARTH FOCUS PRESENTS in partnership with Patagonia Films, a division of Patagonia, Inc. dedicated to making films on behalf of our home planet. Typically airing during Earth Month in April, this special fall edition of EARTH FOCUS PRESENTS is the result of a collaboration with Patagonia Films to debut the broadcast world premieres of eleven films in seven curated episodes. Each of the investigative films expose audiences to today’s most pressing environmental issues that span from pollution of our waterways to environmental injustices and unsustainable agriculture practices. EARTH FOCUS PRESENTS premieres nationwide on Wed., Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Link TV (DIRECTV 375 and DISH Network 9410) and in Southern California on Sun., Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. on KCET. with fourteen day streaming for both programs at linktv.org and kcet.org.

Tied to the award-winning environmental series EARTH FOCUS which features investigative reports about our changing environment and how it affects people around the world, EARTH FOCUS PRESENTS is now in its fifth season and is a curated series of documentaries spotlighting environmental challenges and solutions. These five new episodes showcase intimate documentaries from Patagonia Films that offer fresh perspectives on critical global and local issues. The films range from a Southern California environmental justice youth group’s fight against urban oil and gas drilling to the story of obsolete dams on healthy river ecosystems in Europe’s largest river. This season’s nine curated documentaries explore the complexities of modern conservation around the world.

The thirteen new episodes of EARTH FOCUS PRESENTS will air as follows (*schedule subject to change):

“Artifishal”/“Vjosa Forever”
Wed., Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. on Link TV and Sun., Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. on KCET

“Artifishal’ explores wild salmon’s slide toward extinction as fish hatcheries and farms threaten the future of wild fish and the environment that supports them. “Vjosa Forever” chronicles the ongoing struggle to secure the future of Europe’s largest wild river from political uncertainty and opportunistic greed to the hope of creating a National Park.

“Blue Heart”/“Harvesting Liberty” 
Wed., Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. on Link TV and Sun., Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. on KCET

“Blue Heart” documents the battle for the largest undammed river in Europe, Albania’s Vjosa, the effort to save an endangered lynx in Macedonia, and the region’s women who are spearheading a protest to protect their community’s drinking water. Discover the dedicated work and vision of Michael Lewis and Rebecca Burgess in “Harvesting Liberty” as they work to reestablish meaningful connections in their communities through agriculture.

“Fish People”
Wed., Sept. 15 at 9 p.m. on Link TV and Sun., Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. on KCET

Personal stories reveal a unique cast of characters who have dedicated their lives to the sea. Featuring Kimi Werner, Eddie Donnellan, Dave Rastovich, Matahi Drollet, Ray Collins and Lynne Cox.

“Takayna”/“Lessons from Jeju”
Wed., Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. on Link TV and Sun., Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. on KCET

Northwestern Tasmania is home to one of the last tracts of old-growth rainforest in the world and “Takayna” chronicles how the rainforest is at the mercy of destructive extraction industries. Join Kimi Werner on her journey in “Lessons from Jeju” where she learns about motherhood, culture, diving and providing from South Korea’s first working mothers whose culture dates back centuries.

“Treeline”/“It’s All Home Water: A Northern Light”
Wed., Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. on Link TV and Sun., Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. on KCET

“Treeline” follows a group of skiers, snowboarders, scientists and healers to the birch forests of Japan, the red cedars of British Columbia and the bristlecones of Nevada, as they explore an ancient story written in rings.Patagonia ambassador Nathaniel Riverhorse Nakadate paddles through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in “It’s All Home Water: A Northern Light” against the backdrop of a proposed toxic copper mine on the park’s boundary.

“DamNation”
Wed., Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. on Link TV and Sun., Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. on KCET

“DamNation” explores the evolution of the national attitude from pride in big dams as engineering wonders to the growing awareness that the future is bound to the life and health of wild rivers.

“District 15”/”One Word Salwamem”/”Tule Elk: The Killing of Native Species”
Wed., Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. on Link TV and Sun., Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. on KCET

Learn about the hope and tenacity of young activists of Wilmington, California in “District 15” as they push the Los Angeles City Council to prohibit new and existing oil and gas drilling operations within 2,500 feet of homes, schools and hospitals.
